Johnny's Rolling Meme of Doom.....

I must first thank my dear, lovely, thoughtful and kind friend Heather for tagging me with this. You are too kind my friend.. isn't your birthday coming up soon???

1) Read the meme that was dumped on assigned to you. Answer the questions.
2) Add TWO new questions to the list. Answer those questions.
3) Dump/Forward this onto the next victim/blogger (and list their name and link to their blog).
4) This series will conclude when we get 50 questions - so yes, it’s 25 bloggers in the chain.
5) Please make sure that the next victim in the “link” doesn’t have a password protected blog.
[Optional 6] Update the links so people can follow along (this is similar to the method Johnny used in the “Why China” series).
[Optional 7] When you see an update, down the chain, update your own page with the new questions and answers.
[Optional 8] Copy these micromanaging instructions into the top of your meme post.

Now... On to the questions!

1. What secret/surprising/personal goal (that is realistically achievable within the next 15 years) would you like to fulfill? To find Mr. Right-for-me and settle down. I know I like to be Ms. Independent most of the time, but I would like someone to share the ride with. And to leave public education and open a charter school of my own... that's a big secret one I've never shared with anyone!

2. Can you name an event or a last minute decision or guess that significantly changed the path of your life? Meeting the student that planted the whole thought of adoption into my brain. I had never even had the thought of becoming a single parent until I met him and attempted to start the process to adopt him. It didn't happen for many personal reasons, but it got me to the place I am today. I wish he knew the influence he had on my life.

3. What is one unrealistic goal (but your total secret dream) that you would love to come true, but are pretty sure it won’t ever happen? See part two one question one. I don't have the business know-how to accomplish such a feat.

4. Who has had the most influence on your life and what did they teach you? My parents. They married at an extremely young age, 17 & 18. They had two children by the age of 20, and struggled their way to raise two productive adults, while trying to achieve happy successful lives for themselves. It amazes me to see where they came from and what they have now. They live life large, as we all should. They have taught me to live life to my greatest expectations and to not be afraid to fail. There will always be someone to catch you if you fall. They taught me to that I can reach any goal I set for myself, and to never stop making new ones. They let me make mistakes, and then steered me to the resolutions. I love them because they are my parents. I really like them because they are truly great people.

5. You are on a deserted island. You are stranded with someone from any point in time for 2 months (they are coming to rescue you but are busy right now). Other then family/friends/naval engineers, who is it? Oprah. I think she is such an inspirational woman. I could learn a lot from her in two months.

6. Name and describe 3 things on your mind lately. Is there any particular reason why you're thinking about a particular thing? 1. My ex.... I know anyone close to me doesn't want to know this, but strangely he has been on my mind a lot for the last two months. I don't know why. It just is. 2. My job. I don't feel productive or inspiring. I'm still struggling over the loss of a student, he fell back into the system, I have no contact, and it hurts my heart not knowing if he's okay. 3. Money. I always stress about money, there is never enough, I know I should look for an administration type position, but I'm (surprisingly, given my #2 statement) not ready to leave my classroom.

7. If you could go back to one moment in time and change it, what would the moment be and what would you change it from and to? I started to type the date that I met my ex.... I deleted it because I guess there is a reason for everything and I wouldn't be where I am today without those ten years. Other than that, I can't think of something I'd change... I believe too much in fate.

8. What is your biggest pet peeve and is there anything that you can do or not do to stop other people from doing it? Ignorance.... nothing I can do to change that other than continue to educate with the ideal of making a difference.

9. Who has been the most influential teacher in your life and why did he or she have such an impact on you? Have you sent them a note? Mr. Lane. A college professor. He was the reason I went into the field of teaching ED kids. He was such an inspiration. I aspire to be like him. I wrote him a letter the year I got the Governor's Award, to thank him. He is the reason I am good at what I do.

10. What three things do you regret not learning to do? 1. Play the piano... I think it is a beautiful musical instrument. 2. Speak a second language. I have a mental block when it comes to learning foreign language. 3. Crafts... I have no focus when it comes to things like knitting, scrapbooking, photography... etc. I could never teach elementary school... I don't have a crafty bone in my body.

11. What is your biggest fear? Spiders. I think I perished in a previous life from a spider. I have a horrible, incomprehensible fear of them. It's stupid, and I know it.. but I don't know how to get past it.

12. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I would be healthier. I need to care more about being healthy, eating better, exercising and so on... but right now I just don't care.

13. What is the answer to life, the universe, everything? Mr. Clean's Magic eraser. It fixes everything.

14. If you knew, beforehand, that the wait for your child from China would take this long and drastic a time frame, would you still go through with it or would you choose another country?
I researched everything my type A brain could find, and it was the right fit. I wouldn't change anything.

15. What is one food that most people like that you do not like at all? Olives. They can't be anywhere near my food. The smell of them makes me ill.

16. Name one place in the world you would love to spend at least one month visiting? Is there anywhere on earth that is so repulsive to you that there is no amount of money that could convince you to visit it? Ireland and Germany... To embrace the reason I'm a... well you figure it out!! LOL!! Repulsive.... Can't think of one yet...

17. What book have you just finished reading and why did you pick it up? Would you recommend it to others?
Celia Rivenbark's series... Favorite... "Stop Dressing your six-year old like a Skank". She made me laugh out loud. It was good comic relief. The truth is always funny!

18. Share a relatively quick and easy recipe for Fall. One pot/dish recipes given extra credit.
I don't cook... It's about choice, not ability. If I had someone to cook for I'm sure I'd feel differently, but right now, I can't be bothered. I have friends who cook. They treat me well!!!

19. Would you rather be financially well off, but unhappy, or a happy person who is always in need of money? Broke as a joke and happy as a clam :P (Stolen from Heather... but as true as the day is long!)

20. What is the most comforting sound in the world to you and why? The sound of the waves crashing against the shore. I could never live away from the ocean. I always say that once the salt air has entered your veins... Your body needs it to survive.

21. What is your all time favorite book? If you aren’t a reader, what is your favorite movie? And why? Memoirs of a Geisha. Arthur Golden. I read the book in two days. I couldn't put it down. I made everyone I know read it. It was a wonderfully written book, and the movie (for the first time ever) was a really good adaptation of it. I could read it over and over. And watch it over and over.

22. Share one of your most cherished childhood memories. Every summer of my childhood, my grandparents, Warren & Julia, would take each grandchild for an entire week. We would spend days at the beach and boardwalk, playing games and having fun. One summer, my grandfather let each one of us paint a wall in his shed. It stayed there until they moved 5 years ago. I cried when it was taken down. It was a part of our history and a tangible piece of "art" of those summer days spent at their house. Someone took pictures of each piece.. I need to find out who has them.

23. What are you paranoid about?
Being a terrible mother!

24. What trait of yours do you MOST hope your children will carry on? Being passionate

25. What’s your guilty pleasure? ICE CREAM.... soft vanilla on a cone with sprinkles!

26. What would you buy if you had a thousand dollars to spend on yourself? The only catch is that it has to be a totally selfish purchase, just for you. No paying bills or buying a year’s supply of wet wipes. A Tempur- Pedic Mattress. I have the mattress pad, but dream of buying the actual mattress set. Stupid, I know, but I'm a sleeper, and I LOVE a good bed!

27. Help me update my iPod...name your favorite artists, and then your favorite song that they perform. I love Colby Collait right now. The entire CD is great. But My all time favorites are The Replacements, Five for Fighting, Amos Lee, Sarah Mclaughlin, Jimmy Buffet, Nickleback.... I could go on, but there are too many to name.

28. What is your favorite charity? Susan Koman... For The Cure.

29. In The Shadow of the Wind, there is a beautiful passage that says “few things leave a deeper mark on a reader than the first book that finds its way into his heart.” Do you think this is true, and if so what is your “first” book and why. I have been a reader my whole life... I honestly have no idea what my first book was or why, but I have always found pleasure in reading. My Mother is a big reader too. I think it just rubbed off! As a child I was obsessed with V.C. Andrews. I have read every book she ever wrote, even post death!!!

30. What is your favorite wilderness hike and why? (You knew I was going to ask this-if you aren’t a hiker, you can modify it to drive by landscapes or whatever speaks to you.) I love nothing more than a drive along the coast (Rt. 35) during the winter when all of the tourists are gone. They turn the street lights to blinkers, and its like a virtual ghost town. I LOVE it!

31. What were/are your nicknames? Do you like them? Krissy (my grandmother Julia), Krassy (HS Friends), Ten (Heather) I'll answer to just about anything!

32. What was your first concert? Your most recent?
Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine!!! (1979?) Most recent... Jimmy Buffet, last summer.

33.
Have you ever done someone the dirty? I mean really, foully, badly wrong. And would you do it again, and why, or why not? Yep, not in the illegal way... just in the make-the-ex-wonder way! Nope, not worth the effort...

34.
If you found out that the universe HAD been created, and you could ask the Creator one question, what would it be? Why did you create stupid people. I have no tolerance for stupid.

35. What were your dreams as a child?
Being a nurse. Until I was a candy striper. Unlike I-Con who IS Candy Stripper! hehe! I had no tolerance for feeding people. That did it in for me! Kris I have the utmost respect for your job!

36. What can you do better than most people you know? Algebra

37. What’s your favorite bird and why? Big Bird... even he made it to China!

38. When/where did you last go camping? When I was a child we went camping all the time. My father consistently asks every time I mention Heather... "Did you tell her we used to go camping on her lake???" (GreenWood Lake in northern NJ) Yes Dad, and no I don't remember that specific lake, but I will tell her....

39. Is there something that you feel you should love doing with your kids but you really don’t enjoy at all? Crafts... anything with glitter. I have panic attacks over the mess it makes. Ohhh... Playdo too... Hate the stuff, makes a mess.

40. What home improvement project is next on your list? Something as small as changing a light bulb counts. I will be moving soon... that's home improvement enough!

41. Which season is your favorite? Fall, love that first change from our boiling hot summers to the crisp promise of fall. The smells of fires burning… wearing sweaters… the holidays on the way...love it. (this was Kris' and Heathers' answer, but it is soooo exactly what I'd write, I left it as is, unedited :)

42. MAC or PC? Would Love a MAC... But only have PC knowledge.

43. If you had to name the best thing about getting older, what would you say it is?
Not wishing my life away, just to be older. I always wanted to be older than I was... If I only knew!

A newborn baby... they are so accepting and warm and snugly... nothing uncomfortable about them!!

45. What is the most surprising thing you've learned about the blog world (and you CAN'T say "I've made such great friends". We all have, so we know that already! lol...).
That you can't trust everyone... even though the USCIS has deemed them capable.

46.
If you had to choose one actress to play you in a movie, who would it be?
Kerrie Russell... I used to get that alot in my thinner, naturally curly days!

Holy Crap.... I'm finally to the point of asking a question.... here goes it!

47. What are you currently watching on TV... and don't give me the I'm a smarty pants, I only watch current event shows type answer... what's you guilty pleasure TV show? I LOVE the Bachelor.. It is Cheesy TV at it's best. They used to have some pretty decent people, but now they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel and it makes for some really great TV. LOVE IT!

48. What is your favorite Holiday and Why? I Love Christmas. I could give or take the rest of them. I love the decorations, the warm fuzziness of it. I am truly sad when it is over.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO................. I am Freakin DONE!!!!

Okay. My DAD'S NAME is WARREN... hello... and we are both Kristen Ruth? Lots of cool stuff in common, even though YOUR Warren is your grandpa. 37 made me laugh OUT LOUD. Wish I'd thought of that answer myself. 39- girl, me TOO. The mess of it! Plus I don't love the smell of Play-doh (or however you spell it). Love what your parents taught you and what great examples for you.

And here's to hoping we both meet a Mr. Right someday! I had no idea about your ex? 10 years? That's a really long time. It must have been hard to say good-bye.
