This is why we were sent home from school early yesterday and today... It was actually 104 degrees when I left, but as I got closer to the shore the temp dropped a few degrees. The humidity was so high it felt like 120. It has been miserable hot, the kids are cranky, the staff are crankier. I don't know why parents would even send their children to sit in an unairconditioned school for 8 hours when they know full well we aren't going to get a dang thing accomplished. I never even turned the lights on in my room, yes I know the lights don't generate any more heat, but it is a mind over matter thing. It does make you believe its cooler if they are not on blaring bright overhead. I watched them suffer, flushed and feeling over heated. I fed them ice-pops by the dozen, and did little more than read to them, the next couple of chapters in the novel we are reading. It was exhausting. To top it off, I've managed to give myself the first summer, air condition induced head cold. I feel like crap. Going from such extreme heat to icy cold air blowing as high as possible, right on my face and head, I now have the cold of all colds. Yay...
Oh yeah... 10 days left, and can you believe I have a meeting tomorrow to get a new kid, who's starting Monday... what is wrong with these people, are they freaking kidding me???? Can we just call it a day...

Wishing you cool thoughts, no cold colds and a crisp glass of white wine to wash down a humid day.

Dang woman. That is HOT. Hang in there, I don't know how you do it.
Wow...and meanwhile here in Seattle we are barely breaking high 50s and everyone is wearing jackets (snow in the mountains yesterday)...NUTS!
