Trenton stated to my SW today that they were completed on 2/20 and "should be" on their way back to me presently.... They just better be at my doorstep tomorrow!!
Anyway. Some of you have asked about work so I'll ramble on that a bit;

All has been pretty quiet for the most part over the last couple of weeks. The two new boys came a little over a week ago and so far so good. (J) is a 15yr old 8th grader who was recently classified ED to be put into my program. (this is the kid that I bargained for with the superintendent over the other kid they were trying to place in my room) So far he has been a good fit and has helped the balance of rival students. Everyone seems to be on an even playing field at the moment, which is always good!!
(A) is also a 15yr old 8th grader (they get older and older each year!!) (he is the one from NYC) VERY smart, keeps to himself, no desire to co mingle yet... just fine with me for now.
So for adding six students in the course of 2 months.. not so bad. (V) continues to challenge me everyday. Somedays, he is just so exhausting, not only to me, but to the entire room. I have had to correct the other students many times for attempting to "discipline" him when he is disrespectful to me. It's funny how often they take on the role of my "protector" and get upset when someone is challenging me. I love to joke with them about how they "have my back".
(R) has taken on this role most predominately and I'm not sure how to change it. Since he has come to me the change in his personality has been amazing. He smiles now... and what a sight that is to see. I can't describe the joy I feel just seeing this child smile. I don't think that he has ever experienced the feeling of security or "family" or just plainly having someone care about him. He had a rough day though today. He has to go to court tomorrow and I think that just the very thought of it.. since it has been so far removed, and he is such a different person now, has him stressed beyond belief. He is regularly tired. There is not much option for sleep at home(another disurbing scenario), (So I often .. without the other kids knowing, let him nap for an hour or so each day), but this week he is totally exhausted. Twice today he became very angry with other students for very irrelevant reasons, the first time he removed himself from the situation (coping skills in action) but the second time had to be removed. I'm worried about him.
(K) is my sixth grader. 11yrs old. I haven't had a child so young in a long time. He also is exhausting. More so because his ED is combined with the immaturity of an 11yr old. I am consistently reminding the rest of them how young he is, and to let some things go. 11 and 15 might as well be a lifetime apart.
All that and only 11 school days left until G.E.P.A. STATE TESTING.. whoo hooo .. yeah right!
CANNOT WAIT for it to be over, so we can get on with real life.
Hopefully I will have a very happy post for tomorrow... complete with Dossier in hand, finished and ready to go to SW on Monday.

I think that you will get your documents in 48 hours. 2 days after I wrote my post expressing my frustration about waiting for my LID, I got it. I'm sending some strong vibes your way. 48 hours is my prediction.
I pray each and every day for you to have everything soon.
I love hearing about your students and classroom, you are so very very special dear K, and I am so thankful we are friends.
I have an age range of 14-20 in my classroom. It is amazing the difference in maturity.
I think teaching middle school age is even more difficult. I give you lots of credit. I taught in a middle school for 10 years and was glad to move up to the high school. At least MOST of the hormones are a little more controlled, just a little. :)
