Boys will be....

Such Whiny little pretty girls.... lol
The worst thing I ever did was introduce the "tide to go" pen to the boys. One spot on their clothes and they're at my desk crying for me to fix it. Such tough guys they are!

Well after the last two crazy weeks things are starting to become normal again... well normal as normal gets in my crazy little world. We had quite the comical day today, with the kind of things that "you had to be there" to fully appreciate. I always say that I should just pick a day and write down the various comments and conversations that happen throughout the day and publish a book called "a day in the life of the BD classroom". Because it's those.. "you can't make this stuff up" kinda moments that keep me going most days. Much of it comes from the (language barrier) there's no way I can translate so that you will get it.. kind of comedy. Until you teach a bunch of ESL kids.. that should still be in an ESL program but aren't, it's hard to understand. But I have learned that our frequent use of figurative language in this country and be pretty confusing and therefore comical to my boys. Top that off with a bunch of mental illness and emotional disorders and voila... one pretty funny setting, for the most part. I give these thoughts....

One should never try to kill a couple of birds with stones.. its not nice.
Why does a pot refer to another one as african american... its racist.
Never get out of bed on the left.. its wrong
Never travel to Texas.. too many problems to list
Hold your.... I just erased this from my vocabulary... completely
What year was Murphy the president?
Why would anyone play without all the cards?
But I didn't give(pass) him any money.

I could go on and on.... some days its just plain fun to see the blank expressions and the searching for understanding when my para and I talk "in tongue"!!

During math today.. out of nowhere came..."da*n it, I forgot I have to go to the mental hospital today (mental health counseling), I really wanted to play basketball, oh well"

Also yesterday.. new student.. aka runner, got a police escort to school after he got off the bus and.. well yes, ran!
then today, he showed me another trick where he induces vomiting, fun.

Tomorrow, however, will be a sad day. One of my boys, Brooklyn boy, is going back to NYC. I will miss him. I have enjoyed his company, his sense of humor.. the fact that he gets mine.. his innate ability to burst into song in the middle of science, his new found respect for authority (most of the time), his ability to balance the "street lines" with his presence in my classroom (the scale will now tip). So tomorrow in honor of his departure, we will find an empty gym and play some basketball, order in lunch, and wish him well in his new school. Hopefully a new start with some learned boundries will get him through. Although, my fear (and his) is the neighborhood he is moving to is full of rival gang members. I. DON"T. WANT. TO. KNOW.... all I can say is, WHAT THE H*LL IS HIS MOTHER THINKING?

So TGIF... Have a great weekend!!

And even happier news...... The stork is flying!! I can't wait to see the latest referrals.

I'll post later about my "waiting families night" last night... but it was WONDERFUL!!!!

Sometimes I just don't understand the decisions some parents make. It is sad when one who 'gets it' has to move on.

There is no way I could deal with induced v. It makes me gag. This poor child.

I enjoyed your stories. I hope you are enjoying Friday. When are you off for spring break?

I am sure, you are what the boys need at this moment in time in their lives, and you handle it sooo well.

Oh my goodness...the Tide stick...the greatest creation of all time! I swear my husband spills stuff on himself on purpose, just to see the "magic" of it disappearing.
