A little bit less of me!

Really... more snow?

And by that... I don't mean the freaking mess that was just created over the last 24 hours, that lead to yet again, another snow day from school. Added to the prior two days I called out for being sick. (yes, I only worked two days this week!)  There is another storm predicted for next week. At this point we have no more snow days... any more off, we have to give them back. Thatsnevergood. Besides the fact that my classroom has turned into a full on power struggle day in and day out for the last two weeks. And not just with the students... but the parents that created the people they have become. appledoesntfallfar. nuff said.

I have approximately 47 more work days until my next scheduled get-away. My BFF Kelly & I are taking a road trip to the OBX. No kids, no husbands... just the two of us, in a car, headed towards the solitude of a hugemongas beach house, and complete girl time. To say I'm looking forward to it is an understatement. The two of us can talk for hours, through the distraction of life, on any given day, about anything and everything... so actually have that amount of time together without distraction is going to be so much fun. We have been through life together since we were 13. There is never a lack of life to discuss... especially now that she has two teenagers, and a 2yr old. Our conversations are never dull. Our friendship has evolved so many times throughout our lives, and the bond continues to strengthen as the years pass.
Aside from that, we also have a short girls weekend planned with two other friends next month to AC. That will be a really good time. Not a far away get-away... but nonetheless, fun times!

I thought I broke my car today... I hate cars. I hate servicing cars. new cars should just always work. even if they have approx. 90K miles on them! I called my dad to tell him it was making a weird noise. Let me preface with, I call him at least once every couple of months with a "weird" noise. He told me to go immediately back home and to check the oil... (I hate oil, I hate that it needs to be changed, refilled, yada yada yada... can't someone come up with a better system? imjustsayin) I had none... zero, zilch, dry as a bone checker thingy. Needless to say, he was pissed, but as any good daddy would do for his service-impaired daughter, he went to the store, bought A LOT of oil, and asked my mom to accompany him to my house (to keep him from strangling me) and he fixed me up. And looked MAD... well, as mad as my dad can manage to look (notsomuch, hehe). ANYWHO.... the noise, well it has nothing to do with the fact that I had, presumably, no oil in my car. The noise is not an engine thing... but needs to be addressed with the dealer. Since there is a recall thingy on my car for the Cat Convertor... (yes, the one I just had replaced.... notmyfault, justsayin again) I will have them fix that up too. SO.... I digress, (after a lengthy explanation) I DID NOT break my car... it's just defective. What else is new?

During my very (it's your own sorta vacation) week, I did manage to get a lot done. I have been wanting to attack closets, spring-clean of sorts, within my house. And I actually got a lot done, speckled with watching seasons 6 & 7 of LHOTP (my favorite two seasons) Manly finally falls in love with Beth and they get married. How can you NOT LOVE that???

AND... i'm totally back into the creating new space in this blog... Since I've had so much time on my hands... haha. I love that there is now so much free stuff and the information on how to create custom looks out there. I had totally forgotten how to DIY, but with the help of people who share info, I created a look that I *might* keep for a little while! Although, now that I'm in the know... the possibilities are endless. I have downloaded new programs that I am loving. I literally stayed up until 2am last night just playing with new stuff! It's so addictive... I need to find better use of my time. Like sleeping.

That's it for now.... Have a great weekend. I have to work tomorrow at the PT job, we are still in communion hell season, so it's been really busy, and tiring. Gawd... I remember the days of just having a cute new dress (mine was light pink with small flowers, knee length, it was the seventies mind you) now it's all about the $600 dollar mini wedding gown, headpiece, and 100K party that takes place. I have to work on my facial expression... I have a hard time squashing the eye roll that seems to take over the *joy* of the experience. It's a boatload of fun I tell ya!

I'm glad you've got some fun times to look forward to. When I'm having a tough time at work, I live for those times where I can get away from it all. I don't know how we educators are supposed to do what we're expected to do. The family is breaking down more and more, and kids are not coming into the educational system ready to learn even in the regular ed classroom. I'm discouraged about the remaining years I've got before retirement.

Enjoy your snowy weekend! :)

Yeah ... apples/trees ... it's the same thing here up north. The 'teaching' itself is a piece of cake ... it's all the other 'stuff'! It's become exhausting is all I can say.
Love, love, love the peaceful new look of your blog!
