Today I got myself a part time job.
I've been really stressed lately with the looming cost of this adoption, grad school loan payments, and still saving enough money to stay home as long as possible with the little one. So I made a decision last night that during this "long wait" I might as well work every possible second I can to sock away some money. As most people know... teachers make crap. Even with the masters degree, until I find a position to utilize that degree, I don't put away nearly as much as I'd like to.
So i'm joining the world of retail sales!!!! My mother's best friend owns an awesome childrens clothing boutique nearby and she was in need of some weekend help. I was in need of some storable cash. Perfect fit. I get to stare at the most beautiful baby clothes all day, and I'll get paid for it!!! Fortunately... I could never afford the clothing she sells so the temptation to spend all of my money there will not be an issue. I will however LOVE helping other people spend their money. So for awhile, this will be my last weekend to be extremely lazy and unproductive.
Oh.. and to celebrate my new job aquisition... I did some shopping!!! Bought myself some new cold weather wear. Not that I needed the justification, but I definitely felt better shopping knowing that I have some extra money coming in.
Have a good weekend everyone. Looking forward to those referrals and TAs coming in next week.

Good luck with your new job!
You know, one of the ways I've been earning extra $$ for years is by tutoring students after school. It only adds an hour of work to my day and I charge a "goodly" amount.
All the best to you! I cannot imagine how hard it would be for me to behave if I worked anywhere around retail. I would very likely get myself into bigger trouble so I avoid it like the plague :0)
Good Luck!! I would never be bable to control myself around all of those little peoples clothes.

OOhh great! That's what I am doing too, not a baby shop, but that's a good idea!
I am going back to tutoring (gotta put that teaching qualification to some use) and hope to find something else too. That and not spend a penny (doesn't that mean go to the washroom? well not that sorta penny!) basically I pay myself $25 a week - NOTHING else and that has to cover things like getting the paper, my magazine I get etc.
(of course this weekend I may have bought a house, so I think I didn't quite stick to my $25 rule!)
;-)
Sounds like a fun new job- I hope you at least get some kind of a discount though! Baby and kids clothes these days are so darn cute! :) don't work too hard though, a girls gotta have some fun...
Ah, so you decided to do it! I hope it works out great!
Welcome to the world of second jobs. I've had mine for about a year. Helping me pay off my China loans a lot sooner so it's worth it and actually makes the wait go faster when I stay busy.
