TGIF :))

Time to vent... just a little
It's been a really long week and I'm glad to see it come to a close. We had our final contract meeting on Tuesday, not too bad we've gone much longer without one in the past. It looks pretty good, not too many horrible changes. We will have to start contributing for our benefits, and our increase was only slightly below average over the life of the contract. It is at least better than the last three years. We voted yesterday and it passed. At least now that my Master's degree is complete I will finally get that increment and see an actual raise because of it. I'll need it just to pay for the peice of paper that says I can be a principal... $245 are they kidding me? Didn't I pay enough just for the degree?

On Wednesday, I had the excruciating annual evening of "Back to School Night". Painful because in 8 years I have had an average of ONE parent on that night. This year was no exception with the grand total of ZERO. I sat for 4 hours in my classroom patiently waiting as once again, no one came. I guess it comes with the territory and the nature of the program I teach. When it comes to Behavioral Science, and Nature v. Nurture, you will hear me, loud and clear, preach Nurture all the way. It is sad really, but a reality in my chosen field of education.

On a happier note... My long time friend will be getting married in a couple of weeks. So the planning is coming to an end and the fun of the event will begin. I am in the bridal party, which is actually a huge relief, since I will be dateless for this one. (unless anyone knows a cute man I can borrow for the evening!! lol ) I had my last fitting yesterday and the dress is really pretty, and one that I WILL ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO WEAR AGAIN!!!!! That doesn't happen often as we all know, but for once it is true. I'm looking forward to a good party with old friends. I will be sure to take plenty of photos to share.

One last side note........

My boy Chad served me well last Sunday.... AFC player of the week. J. E .T .S . Jets Jets Jets..... I will be sending good thoughts his way this weekend as they take on the NE Pats for their home game opener.

Have a good weekend....... :))

One more sidenote.... last one.. promise...
To my lurking family and friends.. I'm calling you all out, Mom & Dad, Nan & Pop, Mandy, Kelly, Lisa, Debbie, Joanne, Erin, Aunt Julie & Uncle Dick, Uncle John & Donna, "Uncle Mike", Aunt Sue, Brian & Sarah, Terri, Aunt Judy..... (anyone I missed) I know your all out there.... I can see you.. not really, but leave a comment once in awhile, so I know your there. For the computer inexperienced... click on comments, WRITE SOMETHING, then click anonymous.. just be sure to sign your name in the post. I would really like to know your out there... somewhere!!!!!

I want to see that dress too.

My summer is wedding central. I have lost count. Yet another one tomorrow but all great celebrations.

That music on your blog always distracts me from your post...but in a good way. I love that song!

I can't believe you don't have more parents at BTSN? Are you a classroom teacher? I usually have a full house for both sessions on BTSN. What a contrast!

I teach a special ed self contained class grades 6-8. They are the ED kids.. Its the Behavioral Disibilities class. It's always been that way on BTSN. Very Sad.

I can believe the no show parents (same as our school) but sitting there for FOUR hours?!!! That is ridiculous!! Our principal gives them half an hour and then intercoms her thanks to everyone (I mean one almost literally!) for coming. That is our cue to lead the out the door. As a speech therapist I wander the main hall the whole time twiddling my thumbs! Be sure to enjoy your weekend! =)

I can't imagine not going to the classroom, that's just crazy.

Hope your weekend is better. Love weddings, actually I just like the open bar and dancing!
