A little bit less of me!

Random..

Well yesterday was definitely an enlightening day. My first day at work was not an entire district back to work day. I had to go in for the day to just sign off on IEP's for all the new classified kids entering the school district. So I basically spent the day signing my name to various documents. Easy right. Well, not so much.

First I had to spend my day with an a**hole that I was not intending to have to see, I even had to play nice. I hate that. I hate not being me, and pretending things are "just peachy" with someone that I clearly am not happy with. But we were in the presence of others so I was cordial.

Then to add to my misery, I checked to see that my class list was what I believed it to be. Well, NOT. SO. MUCH. I can no longer refer to my class as "my boys". I have a new GIRL added to my list. Well, this may not seem like a big deal to most, but let me tell you, to have a female student classified as emotionally disturbed, she must be pretty bad. In ten years I have had 3 girls. The last one was about 4 years ago and she left me to go back to jail. So needless to say, I am less than excited. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against having girls in my class but they just add something not needed to a room filled with ED boys. It never works.

So between the asshat, and the new list, I was not a happy camper yesterday. I came home cracked open a beer and called my savior to come fetch me for dinner. Mandy always knows exactly how to cheer me up. As soon as she got there she handed me this framed picture...

This is me and my "Princess Fresh-Girl". I love this kid more than anyone. She has a personality as big as my day is long. Hence the name. She is three, opinionated, stubborn, gorgeous, and one of my favorite people. This was her third Birthday (In February), we were playing with her mom's new camera. She stilled called me Tissen, she has since learned to say the KR blend and I hate it. I am no longer Tissen.

I can't get over how fast she is growing up. Here she is just weeks after she was born...

Gawd, I love this kid!!! Thanks Mandy for brightening my day. AND huge Congrats to her hubby on the good news!!!

So tomorrow, I took the day off from my part time job to enjoy 2 last days of freedom before I go back to the whole 7 day work week... I'm heading to the beach for a BBQ and then Monday will get some R&R before the fun begins!!

One last picture just for fun... and for Her. She asked me to post a picture with me in all my curlyness!! This is me and my Brother, we had these portraits done as an x-mas pressie for the rents. I was about 25. I don't have any recent pictures because it's been about that long that I've been straightening my hair... so there you have. Me Au Natural! hehe

So that's it for now... I'll keep you posted on the "Boys & Girl" scenario.

~Have a Happy Holiday Weekend.

Yeah, I know what you mean...it's going to really suck when Mali girl learns that I'm just plain 'tracy' and not so 'wonderful.'

Enjoy your weekend!

I'm not even gonna comment on the asshat - you know what you need to do to make him uncomfortable - look and feel MAHVELOUS!!! :)

As soon as I read about having a girl in your class, I cringed. I TOTALLY understand what you mean...

I'm LOVING that pic of you and "P.F.G."... what a great pic!

And the curls? Anyone who wants to see the miracle of how to expertly straighten hair should come to see YOU! And what's with the innocent family shot of you and your bro? You should have posted one of those pics from your trip to Hedonism! lol!!!!

Drinks... Food... Soon....

OMG!! I can't believe your hair is so curly! I'm another curly who prefers to straighten. Why do we always want the opposite of what we have? LOL!

I love your new cut. Thought about it for myself...but thought with my curly hair it just wouldn't work. But hmmm... now I know you're actually a curly straightener. So maybe it would!

I totally understand the frustrations that come with the beginning of the school year. There's always so much apprehension about class dynamics. I'm sorry your class isn't shaping up the way you thought it would. I hope you will be able to have a positive impact on your female student, like you do with your boys. I can tell that you've got a huge heart for these kids.

I don't know if you're a praying person or not, but I always start the year off by praying for my students and their parents. I ask for guidance in the things I say and do when I'm speaking to them. Since I began doing this several years ago, my openings have been much smoother. I'll pray for your class - how's that? ;-)

I love your curly hair! Of course, you look fab both ways.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I'm hoping things go smoother than anticipated with the extra dose of estrogen this year.

OOohh sweetie, I was wondering about the A** . Poor you. We are sooo alike, I can't pretend to be "peachy" either!

A girl, THAT is going to be interesting!

I 100% agree with you and the girl issue. I would much rather have a group of boys than a group of girls with emotional issues. The problems just seem to multiply. I feel for you.

After 14 years of teaching I should be used to changes at the beginning of every year, but I still can't get my head around it. This year hasn't been any different. Last year I finally had an aide in my room I felt comfortable letting take some bigger jobs. It was really nice, then this year they pulled her from my room. She is only in my class one period a day. Therefore I am back to doing all of the work myself, which I don't mind but it was nice to have help. The aide I have now is nice, but would rather gossip than work. Grrrr...

LOVE the curly hair. That is a really nice picture. Enjoy your weekend. I hope you have a good first week!!

I love the new cut, but that curly mermaid look is always a go in my book (that's my natural too!)
Your Princess is lovely! Great picture of you both, Tissen! =)
So sympathize with your concerns regarding the new class make-up. It will be one heck of an interesting year!

Ah ... the first days of school! I get what you mean about adding a girl, especially just one girl to the mix ... it really changes the tone! I am missing the school start just a teeny, tiny bit! Glad you are able to turn to others and alcohol for a little comfort .......

Thanks for all the great comments Kristen ... wish you could meet our spicy little sichuan peanut ! She is something else .......
